Snowball Fight Meme

Oh, no!

It's back!

Every year, it returns!

The dreaded cyber snowball fight chain letter!

You have probably received it last year if you were new to the net then. Or in previous years if you have been on the net longer. You might have seen it directed right into your email box, or reposted on social networks, blogs and forums. You might have received it from a member of an email group/list you were on, especially those that were for general chit-chat.

Newbies who aren't aware of the chain letter problem on the net and all the different forms they take, are likely to think this cyber snowball fight is really funny and cute. I was once a newbie, and fell into that trap, too.

But after a few years of seeing it recycled into recirculation, well, you'll see just how irritating it really is! Time to smash that cyberr snowball chain letter!

❄️Meme: IT'S ON!!!!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: OUCH! SHUT UP!

❄️Meme: You can't send this back to me...that's the rules of the game.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: It's not a game, it's a stupid meme, and of course I won't be a moron and send it back to you no matter what you claim the "rules" is...

❄️Meme: Just a reminder Christmas will be here before you know it!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Hel-lo!? *bangs on chain originator's head and hears resounding echo* Anybody home in there!? Or maybe you just come from a different planet and only figured out this Christmas thing? I've lived long enough to know that when you're in the month of December, or even a couple months leading up to it that Christmas is coming soon.

❄️Meme: You have just been hit with an e-mail snow ball!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh no! No! No, no no NO NOOO NOOOOOO! Not again! Please, not again, NOT THIS AGAIN! AAAAAAAAAAAAAACGH!! Somebody please knock me out with something, I'm in agony!

❄️Meme: It's the start of...Snow Ball Fight 2009!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Exactly the same stupid stinking chain letter snowball fights in all the previous years going back to probably about 1996 or maybe even earlier! And each year it goes around, the year is changed to reflect the current time. Ugh!

❄️Meme: One rule to this game...

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Argh, it's not a freaking game!

❄️Meme: You can NOT hit someone who has already hit you!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I wasn't going to forward it back to you, I TOLD you that already! Wait... "forward it back" I actually said that? Oh my heck, what's this thing done to my brain!? Okay, I mean I wouldn't send it back to you or whoever re-shares it...

In an actual cyber snowball fight, I mean people typing out cyber actions and not spreading this meme, people can and would be cybersnowed more than once, even by the same person, so, there!

❄️Meme: Now...Go out there and get as many people as you can, Before they get you!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: How can you "go out there" and pass on this stupid chain letter? Oh, wait, PDAs, right, well, I'm still not spamming anyone with this dreadful stupid snowball chain that just keeps suckering people in every freaking year from around Halloween to Christmas!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Hahahahaha!

❄️Meme: I got you first! And you can't get me back! Nanee-nanee-nanee! (Heheh!)

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I'm...Not...Sending...It...Back...To...You! Or anyone else! Is it getting in there yet!? Gah! *tortured screaming, near dying throes*

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Okay, here is the article, which has one comment response. *Grin* Nothing like running into your own comment years later. Anyway, here it is.:

Instigator of the ‘Great Snowball Fight of 2010’ chain email told to ‘f*ck off in no uncertain terms’

An anonymous emailer known only as ‘Jinxy96’ has been given an emphatic vote of no confidence, after attempting to instigate ‘the Great Snowball fight of 2010’ – a chain email sent to thousands of recipients.

Writing on an online hackers forum, ‘Jinxy96’ admitted that since kicking off the campaign, he/she has been inundated with messages, telling the would-be social participation enabler to ‘f*ck off in no uncertain terms.’ ‘I though it’d be a fun thing to do,’ he/she continued, ‘but from the feedback I’ve had, I guess everyone’s got a bit fed up with all this wintry weather.’

The email, which begins ‘SPLAT! You have been hit by a snowball!’ then goes on to ask the reader to forward the missive on to everyone in their address book. ‘Well most people seem to have sent it straight back to me, with instructions to stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.’

Undaunted, ‘Jinxy96’ is still determined to make his/her mark in the murky world of online mass mobilisation: ‘If no-one wants to have a snowball fight, then perhaps they’d be interested in my Facebook campaign – ‘Rage Against The Machine for Prime Minister.’

It’s not the winter weather people are sick of, it’s that rotten old snowball chain. The thing should’ve gone the way of melted snow years ago. Boo-hiss on anyone instigating it again.

-- 🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: "Stick it where the sun don't shine" yeah, pretty much. But Rage Against The Machine? Bleah! In a FB campaign? Another meme, actually... Really Jinxy96, another meme? Argh - somehow I get the feeling you'd be perpetually annoying me if we had anything to do with each other for much more than 10 minutes.

Oh, can you believe this? Apparently somebody tried to get the Snowball Fight chain going again, and, well, the reception they got was pretty frosty! The culprit is apparently someone known as Jinxy96. Here's the article on Jinxy's effort to jinx the rest of the winter with this dreadful chain.

Instigator of Snowball fight Chain 2010 told Off In No Uncertain Terms

Just when you think that stupid thing has been buried and hopefully not to rear its hideous head again next fall, some jinxed-in-the-head beast gets the bright idea to get it going again! ARGH!

Well, it was a hacker forum after all, and the youth who revived that horrid snowball fight chain blamed the cold reception on people being fed up with the winter weather.

Um, no, DUH - I don't think so!

It's this snowball meme some of us are sick of! I love fresh fallen snow, the real stuff. It looks pretty and smells like a big tumbler of ice water, and fresh air.
