The 6 Most Annoying Nerd Fandoms

By Alan Wilson

(Edited for language and got rid of the 'food stamps' and 'herpes' stuff The rest was pretty great, so this won't be a smash of it. Also, all fandoms are annoying.)

* * *

🗣Alan Wilson: If you’ve been to a nerd/geek fandom convention like Comic Con, then you’ve undoubtedly been around large cliques of fans. These events are invariably a good time, but there are certain geek fandoms which tend to draw particularly obnoxious behavior. Hence, I present the top 6 most annoying geek fandoms:

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: That's just one big reason I don't go to those things. Not my idea of fun. The obnoxious fans, the cliquism, just, no thanks.

đź—ŁAlan Wilson: 6. Hetalia

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Ack! *Cough, cough*

🗣Alan Wilson: Axis Powers Hetalia is an anime inspired by World War II with personifications of Italy, Japan, and Germany. What Hetalia fans don’t seem to understand is that walking around a convention center doing the Nazi salute and brandishing a swastika makes you a huge arsehole, regardless of whether or not it’s “in character.” I recommend locking all the Hetalia cosplayers in room and making them watch through Schindler’s List in its entirety.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: And the movie about Irena Sendler, too.

wow. From what little I know about that series via Wikipedia, I think fans of Hetalia are clueless, not even thinking about what they were promoting. But gah, I had no idea they carried it this far! The nazi salute? swastikas? Oh my freaking gosh! Maybe there really was something to my mistyping the word as 'Hatelia". Come to think of it, this shouldn't surprise me after the ghastly video I saw where some Hetalia otaku were telling Russia to rape another country. *Scowl*

đź—ŁAlan Wilson: 5. Homestuck

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Eww, bleckh!

🗣Alan Wilson: Homestuck is a popular webcomic which just raised over $2 million dollars on Kickstarter to fund developing its own adventure genre video game. The fans dress up as gray demon alien things that are barely distinguishable from one character to the next. They only associate with other “homestucks,” clog up hallways, behave immaturely and generally act like they’re not part of the human race. Until they learn some basic social graces, Homestuck fans should remain stuck at home.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: LOL! Hahahahahaha! Lol lol lol! *Silent laughter continues*

Not to mention Homestuck stinks. It's utterly messed up awful, According to it, a troll created the universe.

đź—ŁAlan Wilson: 4. My Little Pony

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Skincrawl, shudder, cringe* UGH! The horror!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Cringing shudder* Ugh ugh ugh! *Gag*

🗣Alan Wilson: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is a remake of a 1980s childrens’ cartoon about a group of girly preteen ponies. The fandom has even grown popular enough to spawn its own dedicated conventions practically overnight. MLP fans refer to themselves as “bronies” including the female fans, which is pretty messed up. Bronies have the attitude that if you think there’s something creepy about worshiping a bunch of preteen girls then you must be an intolerant bully. The Jesus from The Big Lebowski was a huge Brony.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Sheesh, tell me about it! *Rolling eyes* There are all sorts of things wrong with that fandom, including that it got kickstarted as a joke on the net by trolls.

đź—ŁAlan Wilson: 3. Naruto

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Eww, bleck!

🗣Alan Wilson: Believe it! Naruto is an anime about a teenage aspiring ninja who cheeses off everyone around him. True to form, Naruto fans or “narutards” are teens who also aspire to cheese off everyone around them. The worst offenders are the ones who go to conventions just to stand there holding “Free Hugs” signs and blocking traffic all day long. No, I don’t want your free hugs.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Eww! I wouldn't want their hugs either.

đź—ŁAlan Wilson: 2. Steampunk

If you’ve seen the people dressed in over-the-top goggles and gears then you’re familiar with steampunk.. Unlike other annoying fandoms populated by stereotypically young, dumb, and immature fans, steampunk fandom is made up of stereotypically older and snootier pseudo-intellectual fans. “Steampunks” act as pretentiously as possible, contriving up fictitious identities for themselves. “I am Archibald Thistlewick captain of the airship SS Bullcrap.”

1. Twilight

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh! LOL Hahahahahahahaha! I really can't decide among Twitards, otaku and bronies/pegasisters which is worse, they're all whacked out fandoms.

🗣Alan Wilson: A long time ago vampires weren’t wangsty idiots. Then Stephanie Meyer unleashed Edward Cullen’s sparkly arse on the world, and single-handedly ruined a genre spanning hundreds of years worth of brilliant art. Twilight teaches its young female fans, known as “twihards”, important life lessons like how romantic it is to have a stalker, and how having a boyfriend is the most important thing in the universe. Not to mention the glamor of teen pregnancy. Team Edward or Team Jacob? More like team Irresponsible Codependent Loser.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Those "teams" annoy the heck out of me too. A bunch of girls aspiring to belong to, be basically owned by some male just because he's so hot - give me a break.

The whole vampy love thing, I don't buy that either. Vampires are predators, people are their prey. so anybody who'd fall for somebody who has to fight the urge to suck their blood has to be a freaking masochist of some sort, or have some other issues I can't put a name or description to.
