Meme Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes

The infamous chain letter cookie recipe that Woolworths, Neiman-Marcus, and no one else ever charged 250.00 of any currency for!

Click here for the actual Neiman-Marcus cookie recipe.

I tried putting all versions of this meme recipe into one, since much is the same from one version to another. But there are differences in the wording and some of the amounts.

One recipe calls it "baking soda", another "bicarbonate of baking soda", and another just "soda". So, might as well save time and repetition and leave in the name that includes the lot.

One phoney Woolworths version calls for a 500 grams grated Cadbury bar. In ounces, that is 17.636981 ounces, just over a pound!

The bogus Neiman Marcus versions call for not even quite half that - a grated 8-ounce dark/Hershey bar.

So, I'll leave them all in, and if anyone decides to make these cookies, they can decide if they want a half a pound of Hershey's, a pound of Cadbury's, or toss in the whole whopping pound and a half.

Chocolate Chain Letter Cookies

Ingredients

2 (500 ml) cups butter

4 (1000 ml) cups flour

2 tsp (10 ml) Bicarbonate of baking soda

2 (500 ml) cups sugar

5 (1250 cups blended oatmeal.**

24 oz./680 g chocolate chips

2 (500 ml) cups brown sugar

1 tsp. (5 ml) salt

500 g Grated Cadbury chocolate

1 8 oz. dark chocolate Hershey bar, grated

That's where the amount differs. The bogus Woolworths version calls for a lesser amount of grated chocolate. If it matched the bogus Neiman Marcus version, that 500 g would've been upped to 226.796185 g.

4 eggs

2 tsp (10 ml) baking powder

2 tsp (10 ml) vanilla

3 cups (375 ml) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) (optional) (your choice, but we liked pecans best)
