Candy

🐰CP: "Mom," said the little girl, rubbing her eyes and standing in the doorway to her mother's room.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: And?

🐰CP: "Mom, the Easter Bunny is eating my candy," she said.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Eh? Okay, weird. Or maybe not so much. I once had a rabbit that would eat anything if I'd let him. He even tried to steal food from me. Including a stick of gum. I never crammed anything into my mouth so fast.

🐰CP: "Nonsense, baby," the woman replied. "The Easter Bunny gives out candy, he doesn't eat it..."

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Probably refuelling.

🐰CP: The woman lightly shook her covers and continued to speak, halfway into her pillow and halfway to her daughter, "Go back to sleep, baby..."

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I can't quite get this "baby" business. That's usually a term lovers use on each other, or people use when talking to a baby. But a child old enough to talk, and who probably wants to be thought of as grown up, would be pretty indignant about that.

🐰CP: "But, mom," the girl said. "The Easter Bunny is eating candy!" She now spoke in a more serious tone, almost as if she were going to cry.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Well, kid, it's only a rabbit. A lot smaller than you. Tell it no and give it a shove.

🐰CP: Her mother sat up and opened her arms. "Baby, I just told you. The Easter Bunny doesn't eat candy, he hands it out to little children. Besides, it's not even Easter yet. Go back to sleep," she said in her kindest voice.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Huh? Okay then, where did the candy come from? Where did this bunny come from? I'm confused.

🐰CP: "Okay, mom," the child sighed as she turned to walk out of the room.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: So what's this all about?

🐰CP: The woman smiled and thought, Crazy kid with her lively imagination, and went back to sleep on a whim.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Sleep on a whim? Uh, normally that is done out of drowsiness, not on a whim. But yeah, I think the girl's imagination is a bit over-active.

🐰CP: Out in the hallway, the little girl stood for a while, staring at the Easter Bunny eating her candy. She then sighed. "Mommy said I should go back to bed."

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: If that was me, I would've approached the rabbit and said it could have some candy if it would stay with me.

🐰CP: The Easter Bunny smiled. "Good idea, child. Turn around and don't look back."

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: She may listen to you, Bunny, but I won't.

🐰CP: He flicked a shiny metal pendant at the child. She picked it up and cried as she saw what it was: a dog tag inscribed "Candy".

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: What's so great/upsetting/special about that?

🐰CP: Happy Easter.

The Easter Bunny's true face.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Huh? I don't get it.
