The Rake, though claimed to be around as early as the 1200s, only came about as a creepy pasta meme on the net, originated by who else, 4chan, in 2005.
The Rake is a misshapen creature that screams and menaces people. It might have black eyes, or eyes with bars in them. Whatever the varying details, it's a bloody messed up looking thing and means no good.
