JTK Jeff can't be Caught - Detective Reggie Hurbrow

--

Story title: Jeff can't be Caught

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Only if you don't want him to be.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: After dozens of recent murders have occurred around the neighbourhood, I have decided to take matters into my own hands. My name is Reggie Hurbrow, and I am a private detective who is determined to catch this mysterious killer. I have little to on to where this man strikes but he tends to target small children most. And of course, he murders his victims at night and is nowhere to be seen in the day. So I have taken the liberty of stapling posters around the town offering a salery for witnesses. Hopefully, someone will come forward soon.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: My name is Ocean Elf, and this killer is not mysterious, he's vile. He also targets parents, teens and young adults as well as smaller children. And detectives too. So be careful. If you see him, shoot to kill. Or else he will try to kill you.

Also, you really shouldn't be offering a "salery" which is actually spelled 'salary' to witnesses. They are not in your employ.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: Day 1

After what seemed like an eternity of waiting, a young boy and his father walked into my office. The father had what looked like a wound from a large knife in his shoulder. And the kid looked like he hadn't slept in days.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh, this is still going back to that first part of the 2011 Jeff story with that "interview" and this is expanded out of that...

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: "What happened little guy?" I asked the boy. He was too terrified to answer. Instead, his father explained everything. "My name is Gary, and this is my son Conner."

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Uh... Gary? Oh, I can't believe this. considering Jeff is such a Gary Stu, the name for this father chosen in this version of the story just happens to be - Gary. *Splutters quietly*

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: he told me. Conner was attacked one night by a man with a blank white face and a bright red smile.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Aggravated sigh* It wasn't a smile. It was a face-hack.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: Once Gary entered the room, the man threw a knife into his shoulder.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: We already got that bit.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: They would have both died if the police hadn't arrived and chased him off.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Got that too. Whereas the original version of this story goes into Jeff's backstory, you're moving beyond it, into what happens after the interview thingie, right?

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: I gave Gary the promised reward and they left. However, as Conner exited my office, I heard him mumble "Go to sleep".

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Rolling eyes* I'm getting annoyed. There is no reason for him to mutter this unless going for a supposedly freaky effect, which just doesn't work on me.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: Nobody else came in all day, so I decided to go home. As I entered my house, I almost got a heart attack. A message was on the wall, written in blood "I'll be here soon. - sincerely, Jeff the Killer -P.S. Go to sleep". I couldn't believe it. He was HERE! But how? I checked one of my flyers and I saw that I had included my phone number. So he traced the number to my house, huh? Well I'm ready for a fight!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: What? Your own private phone number, as in the one for your landline at your residence? Why not just leave your cell number instead? Jeff couldn't trace that to any particular location. Or your work number with an extension where they could talk to you?

And whose blood is that?

*Scowls at Jeff*

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: Day 2

I had stayed up all night but Jeff never showed. "Is this part of his plan?" I thought as I drove to the office, "To render me tired so I wouldn't be ready him?".

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Yes. This sicko loves messing with people's heads. Typical power-tripping sadist. *Scowl*

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: I spent hours just waiting for a witness but no one came. Just as I was leaving, a woman with crutches walked in. She introduced herself, "Hello. My name is Lauren". She explains that as she left the subway, she encountered a man whose face was covered with his hoodie. The man whispered to her, "Go to sleep" and he started to chase Lauren back in the deserted subway. Jeff had cornered her and she fell onto the tracks and broke her leg. Suddenly, the police arrived and Jeff escaped into the darkness. That gave me enough info to tell me that he uses the subway as his mode of transportation. I gave Lauren her reward and drove home.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: So that's how he does it, I wondered how he got around before he was old enough to get a driver's license. Okay, that begs the question of where he gets the money for the subway.

Probably robs anyone he kills too unless he has to suddenly clear out of there.

But Mr. Hurbrow, why hand out all these awards?

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: A new message was on the wall, "You forgot to sleep, Reggie".

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Scowls at Jeff*

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: The lights started to flicker on and off, and I could see him at the end of the hall.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh, really? flickering lights? Please. The Teddy chain letter already tried that angle. It didn't scare me either.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: With each flicker, he got closer,

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: That makes no sense at all. There is no reason for the lights to flicker just because that boy is in the building.

How did he even get in a second time? You said it was a house, not an apartment. An apartment building would make more sense with anyone being able to just come in to the entry, but even they are generally secure enough that people can't be let into individual apartments without the tenant's consent.

But you sure aren't making any effort to secure your own house. and you do have the means to do so. Or you should.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: eventually in my face, smiling.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: No, that stupid hack-out job does not a smile make...

And Jeff would not like me or anyone among my company getting in his face. It would be like nothing he ever experienced before.

🕵Det. Reggie Hurbrow: "Oh Reggie. I can't be caught.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: So - that's where it ends?

Seriously?

You had the chance to shoot him and you missed it and wrote about it instead? What the heck?

It seems everybody just panics or slows up completely whenever Jeff is around.

It will not always be that way...
