😈Meme: Dot com names

April 1, 2010

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Nice timing…

😈Meme: All of these are legitimate companies, who didn’t spend quite enough time considering how their online name might appear!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Considering the date this was posted, it is bound to make one doubt.

😈Meme: These are not made up.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Sure they are. I know you really meant to say these are sites from real companies, but technically, every site had to be made up by somebody.

😈Meme: Check them out yourself!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Okay, here goes.

😈Meme: 1. ‘Who Represents’is where you can find the name of the agent that represents any celebrity. Their Web site is:

whorepresents.com

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: no kidding, this one checks out. Though it now seems to be a listing of various things happening around the world. Who is representing what, where, at what date and time etc.

😈Meme: 2. ‘Experts Exchange’is a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views at:

expertsexchange.com

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Doesn't check out. That one's up for sale. *Gong*

😈Meme: 3. Looking for a great pen? Look no further than’ Pen Island ‘. It can be found at:

penisland.net

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Wince* Yep, this one checks out. Oy. And there was another one I happened on when trying to research another chain to mangle. It was "Pen Is Mightier" all one word.

😈Meme: 4. Need a therapist? Try ‘Therapist Finder’ at:

therapistfinder.com

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I think this one got ditched. "Under construction" *Gong*

😈Meme: 5. Then there’s the ‘Italian Power Generator’ company. Check it out at:

powergenitalia.com

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Wince* Nope, doesn't check out. There is no info there about a power company, in English or Italian, and what little is there, is in English. *Gong*

😈Meme: 6.’IP computer’software, there’s always:

ipanywhere.com

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Nice try, but no dice. Failed to open, no such page. *Gong*

😈Meme: 7. And the designers at ‘Speed of Art’ await you at their wacky Web site:

speedofart.com

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I can't decide if that is unfortunate or deliberate, but that is one crazy looking site, about as inaccessible as it can get. And it's owned by a Nigel somebody.

So, 3 out of 7 that check out. Not a great average. though if they were created by real companies, it's easy to see why they'd get ditched later.

Over and out.
