She has this to say about how this image became an urban legend.

🧝♀️ The art has been around since at least 2006, but the urban legend even got an Islamic mutation for Ramadan at as this September 22, 2009 blog entry shows.
The 2009 mutations tacked on a supposed Chinese proverb, which was likely meant by the hoaxer to get their hoax spreading. However, the proverb is worded in such a way that it can be rightly used for the opposite purpose.

The closest you can ever get to that with an online image is viewing it right on the site of the original source. Ah never mind, that probably went over your head.
Unless nature imitates this piece of art specifically and the world gets word of when it would happen via Nasa and not some anonymous chain mail, just don't get excited.

🧝♀️ No, at least, not in this meme. I'd be more than happy to direct people to the Hoax-slayer page debunking this chain, and to the artist's page, but I'm not passing on this meme full of erroneous statements. That's doing a disservice to the artist among other things.

However, the keyword still remains "of value" so I'm pretty sure that if there is such a proverb, it is telling the rich to give to the poor and less well-off. And that if you have a talent or gift, or bit of wisdom, to share it, not keep it to yourself. The problem I have with the proverb itself is the word "obligation" if you give out of obligation, is that even sincere?

🧝♀️ No, actually, you only kidded yourself. To start with, this chain letter is of no real value when it lies about a piece of art and strips the artist of due credit. Second, it is nothing short of mockery and blasphemy to do the above and invoke the name of God while doing it. Third, it is obviously loaded with false obligation, you made sure of that when adding in this "Chinese" proverb. Fourth, you either started or fell for it. Not looking too good for you.

It's the truth about this image, it is not the work of God or Allah in the sky, but a creation by Inga Nielsen, who deserves credit for it.
