Dance In and Run Through The Chain Lett' - Er, Rain

Ugh!

--

😈Meme: A Parable

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Eh… Parables from Jesus are cool, but from chain letters? Not so much.

😈Meme: LIFE ISN’T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS…

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: That's because hopefully for most of us, life isn't just one big storm.

😈Meme: IT’S LEARNING HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN !

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Gah, what is it with memes and dancing in the rain? And though it's probably a way down in the various items on these pages, the references to dancing in the rain from these chain letters is there.

So, what if that rain becomes hail? Are you still going to dance while getting pelted by pieces of ice? and what if that hailstorm turns to a tornado or hurricane? The hurricane to an earthquake?

You find the safest place you can and, yes, wait it out. Sometimes storms do put life's regularities on hold for a little while, but all storms come to an end and you can get back to doing the everyday stuff.

No, life isn't about dancing in the rain either. That is, dancing in the rain can be part of your life if that's your thing, but not your whole life.

😈Meme: Run Through the Rain

A little girl had been shopping with her Mom in WalMart.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Urgh! Why is it that chain letter people are always cruising Walmart? Why aren't they ever in other stores? It's always Walmart unless the message is telling you to boycott a certain franchise for some convoluted contrived reason.

😈Meme: She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Though deep down she was anything but. She knew just how to charm her way in and out of anything while planning the world's destruction, one brain at a time!

😈Meme: It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout..

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I've lived a little. I know what a downpour is like…

😈Meme: We all stood there, under the awning, just inside the door of the WalMart.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: why? You're supposed to be shopping, or leaving. Maybe wandering around a bit more to pass the time while waiting for the storm to abate before going outside again. You all act as if you've never seen a rain storm before.

😈Meme: We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Yeah, you're not convincing me a whole customer base all congregated just inside the door, waiting for the rain to stop. It just doesn't work that way. There might be a few people waiting around, but the majority of shoppers are going to be milling around shopping, or coming and going.

😈Meme: I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens washing away the dirt and dust of the world.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh, for the love! Not with the purple prose again!

Look, I mellow out when there's a rain storm too, provided it's without thunder and lightening. But I don't go all melty over the idea of "the heavens washing away the dust and dirt of the earth" I like the sound. I like the look. Rainfall smells nice. And rain doesn't wash away all the dirt because then there wouldn't be any left to become mud, and wet soil for plants to grow and get their moisture.

😈Meme: Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: along with the pouring rain outside, I get it. I just don't want it.

😈Meme: as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Yuch! Oh, the saccharin!

Time for another reality check!

You might not remember the rainy days you had in your childhood that totally stunk, and there had to be some of those too. Worries don't start and go on endlessly when you're out of your childhood. Their substance just change, and like childhood worries, adult ones also come and go. Childhood worries are just as big and numerous to children as adult ones are to adults.

😈Meme: Her little voice was so sweet

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: And carefully controlled to sound as utterly adorable, cute and innocent as possible. Her red hair and innocent-looking freckle-face appealed to and overwhelmed the eyes while her voice targeted the sense of hearing. Together, they made an almost irresistible yet sinister and deadly means of persuasion, which was to help her attain absolute power and dominance over people. Once they looked at her, they became so blinded by her charming appearance that they lost the ability to question anything about her. She was all purity, innocence and light to them. upon hearing her voice, they lost their own free will, giving themselves over completely to hers.

😈Meme: as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in,

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Only to put her willingly unaware victims into a much deeper trance, a spell not even a thunder clap could break.

Seriously, this whole mob of people, including the impatient ones, were literally all hypnotized by a downpour? Oh, come on! Get real!

😈Meme: ‘Mom let’s run through the rain,’ She said.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: A very small demonstration of this insidious little kender's hold on people.

😈Meme: ‘What?’ Mom asked.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Not that you'll understand, but this kid is trying to see just what she can make you do for her.

😈Meme: ‘Let’s run through the rain!’ She repeated.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: aI really don't see the appeal in that. If it's teeming out there, the sky is rather dark, these people are in a store, outside would be a parking lot, not at all the best place to play around. Getting drenched with cold water just isn't my idea of fun. However, it seems this kid is trying to see if she really can get people doing anything at her request.

😈Meme: ‘No, honey. We’ll wait until it slows down a bit,’ Mom replied.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: And then go somewhere else, like back home, or to a park.

😈Meme: This young child

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Urgh! All children are young. The redundancy in these chain letters is unreal!

😈Meme: waited a minute and repeated: ‘Mom, let’s run through the rain..’

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: so, she's just going to repeat herself and do her best to get the message entering the mind of this woman she has singled out to be her "Mom" in this thing. It's as if she is trying both the direct power of repetition and suggestion, as well as subliminal message. This little girl is going to take over the mind of her hapless victim and get her to run through the rain one way or another.

😈Meme: ‘We’ll get soaked if we do,’ Mom said.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I see the woman is really fighting to keep her own will and ability for rational thought in tact. But just wait, she won't hold out much longer. She won't keep resisting the evil spell of this child, because then, there wouldn't be a chain letter story about it.

😈Meme: ‘No, we won’t, Mom. That’s not what you said this morning,’ the young girl said as she tugged at her Mom’s arm.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: wow! Manipulation out the wazoo! This little twink surely has taken something that was said that actually had a far different meaning, but now she is going to twist it to suit her own agenda, and get this woman so confused trying to come up with something to counter it. The woman won't be able to, and her will is going to be forever lost to the whims of this demanding little creep.

I'm pretty sure the woman didn't say in so many words, "You won't get soaked if you run in the rain this afternoon." For one thing, she couldn't have known it would rain unless she heard about the possibility via weather forecast or it just looked like there might be rain later on.

In the second place, she surely had no idea some little kender was going to try getting her to run through that rain, hours before the demand was given.

😈Meme: ‘This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?’

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Wow! I have to hand it to her, she's really fighting hard to keep this evil kid from taking over her mind and free will!

She could've been a bit firmer and said "I never said any such thing." but either way, the mind-controlling child will come up with some way to convince her she really did say it.

😈Meme: ‘Don’t you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer,’

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Not - another - blasted - FREAKIN - cancer - glurge!

And this kid is so manipulative that she's using some conversation about a medical condition between the two victims she picked out to be her parents for this thing, all to get this poor woman to drop everything right there at the mall and run through the pouring rain with her!

*Scowls*

This kid must've gone cruising around, looking specifically for a household where somebody had cancer. Not only could she manipulate them, but she also knows she can use that to throttle the minds of anyone she can get passing on this chain letter!

Once people who are likely to forward glurge, picture in their mind this girl in all her innocent looking cuteness, then imagine her sweet little voice, hit them with that big cancer stick so many of these chain letters use on people to get them re-sharing:

That is sure to get them completely under this little creep's thumb. There is just no way they can resist her entrancing call across all of cyberspace!

😈Meme: ‘you said, ‘ If God can get us through this, He can get us through anything! ‘ ‘

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Facepalm!* Plug your ears!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Glowers at chain letter kid* You scheming, conniving little brat! Picking on a couple who went through a hard time with cancer of course, and now it comes out you went on the prowl for believers in God as well so you could use both those things to twist a poor woman's mind around so badly she wouldn't know which end was up, all so you can get her running through the rain with you, or heck, maybe even jumping into a fire for you.

She said nothing at all about running in the rain, so cut the crap!

*Deep breath*

After this little brat's devastating salvo, I believe the woman will completely break at this point.

😈Meme: The entire crowd stopped dead silent..

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh,somebody pass me a bucket, quick, I'm gonna - *Gag cough cough cough choke, projectile-hurlage*

Sorry about *sputter* that *cough* -

*Gasping for air*

AHEM, AHEM!

Okay, reality check!

Unless everyone was already focusing on this evil little demon, they would not have all fallen silent. And - there are people of differing beliefs in that shop, so realistically, you might get one or two people stopping to fall silent and be totally overawed by this kid. But not a whole blooming crowd of shoppers!

😈Meme: I swear you couldn’t hear anything but the rain..

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh, brother! So, what? No computers, no cash machines, no freezers running, no carts rolling, no babies or normal little kids making the usual noise they do, nobody so much as walking anywhere, and not even the hum of electricity powering the lights or anything. Nothing at all, literally?

everything just screeches to a grinding halt to listen to the wonderful beautiful amazing rain goddess's rain! Oh, please! and yes, I was referring to that nasty little kid.

Not a chance, people! It just doesn't work that way!

😈Meme: We all stood silently.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Mission accomplished, the little rain demon has you soundly stupefied!

😈Meme: No one left.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I thought you sorta kinda like established that with the standing about and going silent bit.

😈Meme: Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Wait, hold it! I'm confused. she's your mom too?

I'll bet she is completely thrown for a nasty loop. Probably afraid by now to say something and get tripped up and mind-thrashed by the little demon rain goddess again. that little minx simply doesn't quit until she gets her way.

😈Meme: Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: So far, that hasn't happened with this group of drones in your chain letter.

I'm not laughing, though, and I have something a bit more severe than scolding in mind for that little trickster.

😈Meme: Some might even ignore what was said.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Which would be the most reasonable thing for a bunch of shoppers who are complete strangers to do.

But I know what you're going to do next. You obviously think those reactions are not the right thing, and you are going to spell out what you want us all thinking/feeling, and perhaps doing. Like, "OMG this kid is sooooo profoundly awesome! listen to her and run through the rain! And pass on this chain letter!"

😈Meme: But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child’s life.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Yeah, self-affirmation. "Look at me, I'm so awesome! I can have any adult running through the rain and kissing my feet! All I gotta do is look cute and say some really deep sounding stuff about God and I can single-handedly silence a whole store full of people!"

Bull!

😈Meme: A time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Don't kid yourself. This kid isn't nearly as innocent as she'd have you believe, sucker! That faith of hers, sure as heck has nothing to do with God!

😈Meme: ‘Honey, you are absolutely right. Let’s run through the rain. If GOD let’s us get wet, well maybe we just need washing,’ Mom said.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Hurls* Spare me the euphemism. If you need washing, and I mean the everyday mundane type, go home and use warm water! You don't need an uncomfortable cold drench or to get your purchases wet and at least some of them ruined.

So, there you have it, the ugly effects of somebody getting her mind turned to Swiss cheese by the nefarious little rain goddess.

😈Meme: Then off they ran.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Without any regard for safety, comfort, or even health.

😈Meme: We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars and yes, through the puddles. They got soaked.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I hope for their, or, well, the woman's sake at least, that those cars were parked. Though it would be just like the vile little twerp to get an adult darting around among moving vehicles that were either pulling out or arriving, looking for a place to park. That would needlessly risk getting killed, or at least giving any driver a near heart attack at having just missed hitting one or both rain-people.

and all you mooks just stand around, watching and laughing like idiots because you suckers let that wicked little thing eat your brains.

😈Meme: They were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Completely unrealistic. Anyone just arriving on that scene would probably change their minds and exit, quick, thinking a bunch of you had all gone right off your chumps! - and, they wouldn't be wrong.

So, what about all the purchases? Every shopper that bought or had gathered some things they were going to pay for, just left it all back in the store? The whole idea of them being there was to shop, not to go on an impromptu rain-romp.

So the few working stiffs back in the store have to put everything back that was just left lying around helter-skelter because of this kid.

😈Meme: I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I read. I tore it apart. I needed to clobber something.

😈Meme: Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Yeah, such as this kid getting everybody to weaken their immune systems from being out in the cold drench too long, and then at least some of them get sick with some virus or other.

😈Meme: But no one can ever take away your precious memories…

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: But they can sure try to plant fake ones and use them to get you doing stuff in their own interest. Case in point, this little rain girl.

😈Meme: So, don’t forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories everyday.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Get real. Not every day is going to be memorable. Or, to put it another way, we can't remember every single day of our lives. And that's fine. If I end up being part of someone else's good memories, fine, but that's not why i'm here.

😈Meme: To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: ARGH! Don't bring scripture into this!!

😈Meme: I HOPE YOU STILL TAKE THE TIME TO RUN THROUGH THE RAIN.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: I can have, or take all the time in the world, and I will not run through the rain unless I am caught in the middle of it, and running for shelter!

😈Meme: They say it takes a minute to find a special person,

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Oh, brother!

Look, everybody's special in their own way. And it often takes much more than a minute for people to become special to each other.

😈Meme: an hour to appreciate them,

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Actually I've taken a lot less time appreciating people before. But don't expect me to ever appreciate you or that freaky little mind-thief.

😈Meme: a day to love them,

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Wrong again. love doesn't run on a time limit.

😈Meme: but then an entire life to forget them.

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Actually there are people I've forgotten - probably because they weren't special to me. You can't remember every person you meet throughout your life. And it's not exactly rocket science that you never forget the ones you love because they're special. Not unless your mind goes. And there was plenty of that going on in this chain letter story.

😈Meme: Take the time to live!!!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: Look, brainiac, if you are living, you are obviously taking the time to do so! you just gave me a weird mental image. Somebody who doesn't take the time to live can somehow do a time-warp thing that applies to only them, so that the others around them sees this dude or chick go from early 20s to middle age in 5 seconds flat. Another 5 seconds, and, oops, get him/her to the morgue.

😈Meme: Keep in touch with your friends, you never know when you’ll need each other –

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: *Rolling eyes* Anyone sincerely interested in keeping in touch, shouldn't be sending this junk!

😈Meme: And don’t forget to run in the rain!

🧝‍♀️Ocean Elf: This might come as a shocker for you, but some people really don't like being out in the rain, especially a downpour. I'm not forgetting to run in the rain, I'm deliberately avoiding it as much as possible.

There! Chew on that for a while!
