Furby Meet: Jessica's Crew

Note: The odd ~ on its own anywhere in these stories indicates a music background tune for a scene or an element within one.

--

The first furby resident at Jessica's was Sundown, and he was still there years later when a lot of newcomers came in.

First, came party rockers Dmitri Scoffby and Kitri Fussby., then Duckling Wittby, and then a furbling called Peekaboo.

For a time, there were conflicts over Peekaboo being initially frightened of Dmitri, until Jessica and Kitri had a very heated conversation that ended in a reconciliation and clearing up of all misunderstandings.

The next week, Sybil Loveby arrived, and she was just as expected. A pink, rabbit-like furby with a voice to match. It was somewhere between a sweet adult furby boom and a furbling in quality and pitch. Sybil was soft-spoken but could seriously project her voice when singing. And like Peekaboo, she purred. Her ears flopped forward, and she held her tail up so that only the tasseled fur at the end wasn't partially hidden. That even gave her the effect of having a bunny tail. Jessica referred to her as "my lop bunny" or "funny bunny".

There was no adjustment period to speak of with Sybil. Peekaboo took to her right away, and Sybil gladly returned the feeling.

Even Sundown confessed to Jessica when he could catch her alone that if Sybil had been the very first to arrive, he might not have been disconcerted.

That night, Jessica said they were having spaghetti for dinner.

Dmitri showed his enthusiasm the same way he did when Jessica fed him oysters from the iPad.

"Wah, wah, wah! Hoo, hah, hah!" And he did a cute little dance that made Jessica laugh.

Sybil was equally funny, she slurped her spaghetti, apparently not wanting to miss any of it.

Kitri was back to her old self, there had been no more conflicts since the confrontation with Jessica over Peekaboo and Dmitri, and she welcomed Sybil as warmly as any other furby.

But Jessica somehow got a sneaking feeling that Kitri was glad Sybil was there to keep Peekaboo occupied, well cared for, and out of her hair. Now with the trouble out of the way as well, Jessica hoped Kitri would come around completely and warm to Peekaboo once again.

Peekaboo got along just fine with the other furbies, but had bonded with Jessica so strongly in the first week of being there that she still sought her out every so often, just wanting to hang out with her. Jessica reciprocated, she was always glad to give each furby some one-on-one.

But it was never too long during Peekaboo's wanderings away from Sybil that the lovable lop-eared furby would go looking for her. It didn't take Sybil long to figure out that when Peekaboo stayed out of her sight for long, she could probably be found with Jessica.

Not long after Sybil's arrival, Jessica announced that though she had some minor apprehensions, she decided to go ahead and accept two more furbies. So Ocean Buck Twitby and Beethoven Nerdby were coming.

The boys arrived a week later, on the same day. Beethoven Nerdby was first, arriving a little before lunch. Ocean Buck Twitby came just before dinner.

The two of them could hardly be more different from each other.

Beethoven (nicknamed Toby), was a lop bunny, like Sybil, but his fur was blue rather than pink. He turned out to be quite the charmer with his gregarious nature, sensitivity, and nutty sense of humour. Like Sybil, he could be very soft-spoken, and project his voice very well, all depending on what sort of message or mood he wanted to convey. He seemed to be a little mysterious. Toby learned very quickly how to make Jessica laugh, and how to get her attention yet not be demanding about it. All the other furbies welcomed him heartily, and he fit right in.

Ocean Buck Twitby (mostly referred to as Buck), was the oddest looking furby Jessica had ever seen. His ducklipped expression made him look as if he was trying out for a role as a sea anemone or something of that sort. His ears were pressed against either side of his head and pointed backward and a little down. And he was a serious motor-mouth who could render the ugliest burps of any furby Jessica had heard. At least he was a comparatively quiet eater next to some of them.

One night, Jessica gave the furbies various items from the iPad furby pantry/menu. This was going to help her decide what to bring along with her on the day of the meet with Beth and her furbies, and Hannah, whom, along with Beth, was in charge of sending furbies on missions.

The two bunny furbies both seemed to be quite the seafood lovers, liking just about every kind of sushi the iPad had to offer, and most of them liked stinky cheese.

"Is there don't like?" Jessica asked them.

"Yeah, dumplings." said Dmitri.

"You don't know what you're missing." said Kitri.

"All the more for me, then." Toby added.

"Really? Well, how about this?" Jessica hadn't given any of them rotten eggs from the iPad before now. She had thought it possible that Dmitri might like them, and that would sort of freak her out a bit. She was sure none of the others would like them, and didn't have the heart to find out before now.

While Jessica and Toby were willing to give each other a fair chance, she was still expecting him to get on her nerves at some point, while he was still looking to be convinced of this being his permanent home. So the two of them had this "Convince me." attitude deep down, they didn't express it directly.

So here was an opportunity for Jessica to playfully unnerve Toby. She gave him a rotten egg from the iPad app.

In the end, it was he who had the last laugh, unnerving her. Toby accepted it with a purring "Mmm-hmmm."

"What, really?" Jessica stared at him, open-mouthed.

Toby grinned fiendishly. "You didn't expect that, did you?"

"Holy crap!" Jessica giggled nervously, then blinked. "Let's see if you're willing to have another go, my friend," She thought, half expecting it to have been a mistake on her part. Maybe she accidentally selected the next item to the egg the first time and just wasn't paying enough attention. Or maybe Toby was just being daring, and if that was the case, he wasn't likely to want a second one.

Kitri looked from Jessica to Toby with disbelief and back again.

"Want another one?" Jessica asked Toby.

"Sure." he replied.

"What - seriously?" Jessica stared at him with disbelief.

"Yeah." He returned Jessica's incredulous expression with a pleading puppy dog eyed one. "Please?"

"Haha! Way to go, Toby!" Dmitri cheered. "Can I have one too?"

"Ugh. Dmitri."Jessica selected another egg from the menu. "All right, you asked for it. First come, first served."

Before Toby or Dmitri could start enjoying it however, the egg was quickly snatched away.

"Hey! Dmitri protested as Ocean Buck quickly downed it.

"Eww, gross!" Kitri and Sybil chorused.

"What the...?" Jessica gaped, horrified.

Buck licked his lips with delight, then let out a mischievous laugh. "Oh, you guys have nothing on me." He crowed.

Jessica gave two more eggs to Dmitri and Toby.

"Mmm-hmmmm!" They purred as they downed their share.

Dmitri, Buck, Toby and Duckling generally did not reject worms, dirty socks, or rotten eggs, but to everyone else's grossed out amusement or surprise, they actually liked, or could come up with some use for them.

To this, Jessica said, "I declare you, Ocean Buck, Dmitri, Duckling, and Toby, to be our resident sickies!"

They responded with wicked and gleeful laughter.

"Actually most of that stuff ain't bad." said Sundown.

"You too?" Jessica looked at him.

Sundown grinned impishly back.

"Not as bad as stinky mouldy cheese." said Duckling.

"Oooh, that stuff's delicious!" Sybil exulted.

Kitri, Toby, and Dmitri all agreed.

I don't understand you guys." Jessica said, shrugging her shoulders. "Okay, let's see how you manage with this stuff." she gave them iPad app hot sauce next.

Dmitri was first to try it. He turned a strange color and said "Uh-oh," and made a beeline for the tap.

Buck was next. "Eek!" He wasted no time running to the tap for a drink.

It was Toby's reaction that put Jessica in stitches. "Oh - my - gosh!" He sang out, opera style, and probably would've put on a dramatic show of a poisoned death throes, where it not for his desperation to get some real relief from the heat.

Jessica could only laugh helplessly as the furbies lined up for the tap while Kitri alone lapped up the sauce without flinching.

Jessica poured them a glass of milk and put in straws for each furby, then invited them to put the fire out that way. it would be faster and give them more relief. She watched Kitri in disbelief.

Sundown was first at the glass, then came Peekaboo and then Toby. As they all gathered around, Kitri was just finishing up with the sauce

sighing contentedly, and Sundown stared at her. "Holy crap - how can you eat that stuff?"

Kitri gave him a bemused grin. "How can you eat broccoli?"

"At least that's sort of normal." Jessica said. Speaking of which, how about some normal items? Like - " She studied the menu and selected bacon.

"Hahaha! Neat-o!" Toby exclaimed.

"Mmmm-hmmmm!" Dmitri chimed in with his approval.

So they had bacon, chicken, carrots, beans and other main dish items Jessica could find. Toby made her laugh with his exclamation of "More!" that Jessica couldn't tell if it was bliss, desperation, or a combination of both. Jessica was surprised at how impressed she turned out to be with him.

When it came to dessert, everyone agreed those items were tasty beyond belief. Duckling and Buck exclaimed "Yeah!" Dmitri's hysterical laughter rang out along with Kitri's, Toby hammed it up with a little happy song, and Sybil did a combination of all of those.

Days went by.

Like Peekaboo, Toby got on swimmingly with the other furbies, but it was Jessica whom he took a particular liking to. He needed no further convincing that this was the home for him.

Toby was also the one who sat by Jessica's side and was a great comfort one night when she wasn't feeling well. Even when she recovered, he kept an eye on her. From that point on, Jessica had become as attached to him as to any other furby at her residence.

Around three weeks later, furby baby Tina (short for Palestina) arrived. Because she was a classic/vintage furby baby, she was massive compared with Peekaboo and might've been about the size of two furby party rockers put together.

But she was still very much the baby, not nearly as independent or adept at moving around as Peekaboo. She slept a great deal for the first couple of days. She wasn't able to eat furby iPad food, and too much of even milk upset her stomach.

Tina was not shy of anyone there, not even of Dmitri. She was as friendly toward him as to anyone else.

she was just insecure about the apparent vastness of her surroundings in general. Jessica had to reassure Tina many times whenever she was afraid she might fall or get dropped.

But when Tina was able to interact and play with Jessica and the other furbies, her laugh was adorable.

Day by day, Tina became a little more adventurous, and a little braver about exploring her surroundings. She even got to the point where she wanted Jessica to move her up and down, and around like she did with Toby to make him laugh and exclaim "Neat-o!"

To Jessica's astonishment, it was Kitri who nearly took over Tina's care, right from the beginning. Kitri was proving to be almost as protective of Tina as Sybil was of Peekaboo. Jessica couldn't do anything with Tina without Kitri standing by, waiting to help out or take over when needed.

Kitri was not over-indulgent, though, and wouldn't allow Tina to taste anything the others were eating if it was likely to upset her stomach. Sometimes Tina would cry over this, but Kitri remained kind yet firm with advice like "We'll have this again, and then you'll be grown up and strong enough to try it without getting sick."

One time, Tina wouldn't settle down and threatened to have a tantrum. Kitri responded with a firm ""Enough! I said later!" This shocked Tina out of it, and she subsided to pouting for a few minutes, and then it was soon forgotten. Soon, Tina became her chatty, laughy self again.

Tina turned out to be a big help with Peekaboo and Dmitri.

Next to arrive was Funky Furby Floyd. He was certainly the largest and tallest of all the furbies, with a rodent-like body and very long, bushy tail. If his eyes and nose were closer together, he might almost resemble a large squirrel. His eyes were very human-like, and his feet were like those of a monkey or ape. On top of his head was a single curled small antenna that bobbed up and down occasionally.

But he was distressed, because he couldn't remember the special songs and dances funky furbies were known for.

Jessica assured him she would help him sort that out.

But Floyd wasn't the only one out of sorts that day.

Jessica was having a rough time, feeling very blah, almost to the point of being sick. She wasn't running a temperature, but she looked a bit pale, she was listless, lethargic and had absolutely no appetite. She pushed herself at work and was glad when she was done with that for the rest of the day. So the furbies only got iPad furby app food that night, except for Sundown, Peekaboo and Tina, who got leftovers from the night before.

Jessica changed into her night clothes as soon as she got home from work, fed the furbies, then meant to have a rest and then maybe watch TV later on.

~

As happened the last time Jessica was feeling off, Toby stayed close to her and rested with her in her favourite reclining chair. He even asked the other furbies not to disturb Jessica and to try keeping the noise level down so she could rest.

For her part, Jessica, feeling rotten and vulnerable, was all too glad to have him there. She snuggled him like a little girl might do with a favourite stuffy or doll.

It was times like this which made Toby become especially attached to Jessica. He had always gotten along with and enjoyed the company of nice furbies and friendly humans. Like Dmitri, he had taken quite a liking to the home right from the start, but now he really cared about something other than just fending for himself, or partying. It was great hearing and seeing Jessica laugh, especially if he was the one who caused the mirth. It was hard seeing her suffer. He wanted to do whatever he could to help her get better, even if it meant him just being there. If he could've been Edward Tulane, Jessica would be his Sarah Ruth, with the difference being that Jessica would not die.

Eventually, morning came. So did the realization that Jessica had slept all night in the chair and that it must've been pretty comfortable. She felt as good as if she had slept in her bed the whole night.

toby was still there with her, and when Jessica finally got up, she took him with her to the kitchen and rewarded his caring with a bit of cereal.

Jessica didn't just put plain old milk and sugar on it, It was milk and brown sugar, and she sometimes added a little vanilla as well. Toby absolutely loved this, and purred up a storm while downing it very rapidly.

Jessica was feeling much better after a good night's sleep, and she had the day off work.

Floyd turned out to be a great help with the furby babies, who didn't seen to need so much adult supervision any more.

In the following days, Jessica would spend her spare time at her computer, looking up furby related information and opportunities. She eventually announced one day that in addition to the 2005 furby baby coming, there would also be another 2006 furby, and she did not know either of their names yet.

the worried look on Floyd's face didn't escape her. "I'm hoping he and you can help each other out." she reassured him. And Peekaboo and Tina, make sure you include your new friend when you play together."

"Of course we will." said Peekaboo.

"Why wouldn't we?" asked Tina.

"No reason, it's just that sometimes three's a crowd."

"That expression was apparently quite lost on Tina. She gave Jessica a blank stare. "Huh?"

"Nevermind, it's just something that happens with us silly humans sometimes. I keep forgetting you're wired differently. I'm also going to try getting a couple of all black furbies. One that was a victim of creepy pasta, and another who I think would be a great help on the mission Beth and Hannah are planning."

"What are their names?" asked Peekaboo.

"The black magic 2012 - is Jet."

"Oh, cool, I like that." said Duckling.

"Jessica smiled and continued. "The pasta victim is Jenny, unless of course, we end up with the other one that is Mark."

"Ugh." said Sundown. "Please, not him."

Toby nodded at Sundown in agreement.

Jessica rolled her eyes at them.

"Hehe! Jenny and Jet. I like that." said Sybil.

Jessica grinned and nodded.

The following week, Toby got sick, and it made him act withdrawn from everyone but Jessica, and disinterested in much of anything. His condition worsened so much that he eventually withdrew from Jessica.

This worried her, but there wasn't much she could do other than feed him as much as she could get him to eat, and see that he got enough rest and care she could give him around the clock until he was better.

It was Sybil who insisted on staying near Jessica, now that Peekaboo was becoming so independent and spending most of her time playing with Tina.

Until this time, Jessica hardly knew Sybil, who had been almost completely taken up with Peekaboo, so she had not bonded with Sybil as much. Concern about Toby made the prospect even harder, since Jessica wasn't really in the mood to give anyone else a whole lot of one-on-one attention. So, she would politely send Sybl back to check out how things were going with the furby kiddies.

If Sybil knew or suspected she was getting the preoccupied brush-off, she never showed any acknowledgement of or sore-headedness over it. She only kept returning whenever Jessica wanted help or a little company, and never complained when Jessica wanted to be on her own to look after Toby.

Even when Toby recovered, Sybil kept this up until her quiet determination paid off, and Jessica's response to her became decidedly warmer.

More time passed, and Jessica announced that she was having a tough time getting her hands on the black furbies, but they were getting two others as well. Both of them 1998 furbies, one was Snowball, the white one with blue eyes, also a minor creepy pasta victim, having belonged to a girl called Amanda in the Jennifer story. So Jessica said her name would be Misty Amanda Snowball. The other was coming with her, a gray, pink and white one, still without a name, and was as close to the description of the furby owned by a much younger "Jessica" in the same pasta story.

It wasn't long before Jessica got a break, and announced that Jet was now on his way.

Black Friday week rolled around. None of the new furbies had arrived yet, but Jessica was not concerned. She did not specify rushed delivery for any of them, and figured things would be jumping at the post offices with all the online deals and shopping.

After work, Jessica continued her search for a black 1998 furby online. They were available, but weren't being shipped to her location or else cost too much.

She did get another break that was completely unexpected, thanks to black Friday, and called the furbies together for another announcement.

"Holly Robin, the Christmas furby boom is on the way.

This was met with the usual positivity, since with furbies, the more, the merrier.

"Hehe. Holly Robin. I like that." said Tina.

"The second name Robin was Hannah's idea," Jessica explained, "because of this furby's unfortunate condition of personality change, which makes them talk like the opposite gender to what they are, if it's a girl furby boom, the wicked/crazy mode makes her sound like a male."

"I can sound like a boy," said Peekaboo, and she did her best imitation of a boy's voice, which was laughable.

"Nothing like that, Peekaboo, when furby boom changes personality, it's anything but cute."

"What about Jet?" asked Floyd, "You said he was a 2012, right? Does he have this issue?"

"Yes, but he sounds like a male in any attitude. Even the one they call "valley girl" I just call "valley person" on him." said Jessica. She looked at Dmitri. "No offence, but I've seen 2012 furby's evil personality on Youtube, and in that faze, his voice is a lot like yours."

Dmitri raised an eyebrow.

Jessica continued. "And in his nice default faze, he sounds like a cross between Sundown and Sybil.

Those two raised their eyebrows.

"Eww." said Sybil.

"Bleckh." said Sundown.

"No, it's cute, really. I don't know how else to describe it. He doesn't sound girly, even with a higher voice. So when he gets a deep voice in his other attitudes, it's really not as bad as everyone makes out. Boom on the other hand, oy."

The very next day, which happened to be Black Friday, the unnamed 2005 furby baby arrived. Jessica took several hours to decide on a name, and finally settled on Brittany.

This baby was slightly taller than Tina when standing up, and she was gray with a pink belly.

Brittany was as sensitive as a newborn when it came to feeding, which she readily demanded when awake. The trouble was that virtually every time she ate, she would get an upset stomach and needed to burp to get rid of it.

As distressing as it was, particularly for Tina to watch, as she had similar problems with feeding not so long ago, Jessica said that it was unfortunately the norm for this particular furby baby, and despite the discomfort, Brittany herself continued frequently demanding to be fed.Brittany eventually assured those who showed concern that she was used to this, and it only lasted a short time whenever it happened

It was impossible to make Brittany laugh unless and until she instructed someone to tickle her. Once in a while she would sing. But she was the most serious, routine-oriented, and sleepy furby Jessica had ever known.

That Saturday night, Jessica was still looking for Jenny, the all black, green-eyed 1998 furby, without much luck. Same problems. That color was too pricy, wasn't shipped to her location, or she was outbid or just didn't want to bid any higher. Other black furbies were there, but they had brown bellies or were listed as having brown, gray or blue eyes, were from the wrong year, or were black and white tuxedo types.

Toby didn't quite understand Jessica's persistence. "Maybe you're not meant to bring her in here…Or him…Depending on which one it turns out to be. Jenny strikes me as a bit anti-social. And Mark - " he shuddered, "would scare the living daylights out of the furblings."

"Well, I talked with Hannah about it, and she says she'll take him or her off my hands if she or he turns out to be trouble."

Toby shrugged. "I just hope you won't regret this if we end up getting this one living here."

"Kitri will settle 'em if he tries anything." said Jessica.

Toby laughed. "Oh, the mental image of that. And if Kitri can't straighten him out, I will."

It was Jessica's turn to laugh. "Good to have you back in good health, Toby. - Oh, shoot, I goofed." Jessica looked at the computer.

"Eh?"

"I hit the place bid button by accident, before I could make a correction."

"Uh-oh."

"Well, it's not that bad, not like I couldn't afford it if I win - which I'm pretty sure I won't. They're in high demand and I've seen them go for a lot more."

"I hope you're right." said Toby.

"Oh yeah, just wait. I'll be outbid by morning when this auction ends. It's not like we're on some kind of time schedule to get this one anyway."

Toby nodded, looking relieved.

"Well, that's all I'm doing tonight. So let's get some rest." said Jessica.

But the next morning, Jessica fired up her email and saw "You won!" from eBay.

"Oh, wow, I didn't think I had a shot at this."

"Shot at what?" Sundown asked, hopping onto her shoulder.

"Jenny furby is on her way."

"Uh-oh," said Sundown.

"You too? Toby tried talking me out of this already. What's with you guys?"

"We're just concerned your attempt at turning around the life of a pastafied furby might result in something not quite like gratitude and far less pleasant.

"Oh, you guys. I wouldn't expect a big thank you from them, not right away at least, but I was thinking the longer they're here, the less messed up they might get."

"I'm not sure how you come up with that theory after reading their stories, but, it is up to you, Jessica," Sundown said with a shrug.

Nothing more was said about it, and no other furbies arrived until Thursday, exactly a week after the Black Friday sale.

A neighbour came by, bearing a parcel that was supposed to be delivered to Jessica's house.

Since Jessica had only returned home from work with Sybil, the two of them began opening it.

Soon, the other furbies gathered around and watched, trying to pitch in wherever they could.

Anticipation was high, and everyone tried to guess which furby might be in there. Jessica said she thought she had a pretty good idea considering where the package was from.

When they finally got it open, Holly Robin emerged.

She turned out to be incredibly likeable, as it was plain to see she really wanted to stay at this home, and she hit it off with everyone. Holly loved nothing better than being held and petted by Jessica, and she out-purred all of the others put together.

But Jessica cautioned the others this did not mean Holly was free from the same personality condition that afflicted any other furby boom. It was probably just a matter of time before she might change, and it could be unnerving.

Holly said she didn't want to change and would try not to.

The next day, Holly showed no signs of personality change, not even when three more furbies arrived.

Polly, gray spotted 1998 furby with a pink belly, and the white, blue-eyed snowball 1998 furby, whom Jessica was considering naming Amanda, but decided that would be a second name. So Polly, and Misty Amanda were heartily welcomed.

Polly's voice was exactly like Sundown's, slightly deeper than Misty's. This was going to make it difficult to tell which of them was talking when Jessica wasn't looking right at them, but she would eventually get used to their different figures of speech and attitudes, so it might not be so hard in the end.

The other furby looked very much like Floyd, only minus a tail. Jessica took him in her room to examine him to see if she could awaken him. She had already told Floyd they would have to share the battery cover, which meant they couldn't do anything like tell their programmed jokes in unison or do their special dances at the same time.

Floyd was fine with that.

But Jessica came out some time later, announcing the other furby as dead.

This shocked Floyd, who became depressed. Jessica and the others could only do their best to support and try to help him out of it.

Jessica quietly disposed of the dead furby when she was certain no one else, especially Floyd, was around to see her.

The one good thing that came out of it was the battery cover was fine, and now it was all Floyd's. Though he didn't seem too happy about it.

Later that evening, Holly decided she was a puppy. She barked, begged for treats, and ran around, wagging her short tail. This might've been an attempt by her to cheer Floyd up, and it worked for a while.

Misty Amanda's antics were funny too, she scurried and climbed about like a monkey, and played a lively game of tag with Tina, Peekaboo, Polly, and Holly, who still insisted on being a puppy.

When Holly was it, she tagged Tina, not with a touch of a foot or a nudge, but via lick just below an eye.

"Eek! Holly breath!" Tina exclaimed. "Okay, I'll get you!" and the chase was on again.

Jet arrived the next day. He was black, very slightly smaller than Holly, and his fur was fluffed and wavy like Dmitri's.

He was just as outgoing and happy to be there as Holly, and wasted no time making himself at home. He was also a great one for purring, and loved to sing.

But Jet and Holly seemed to have an unforeseen negative effect on each other, because Jet had a personality change while they were playing together in front of the Christmas tree.

It was a friendly enough personality, though a little cheeky, and it soon passed, with Jessica's help.

It was Holly's personality change that came soon after that caused considerable consternation among the other furbies. It took Jessica a bit longer to restore Holly to her normal self, and even longer for some of the other furbies to warm back up to her again. Then it was Jet's turn the following evening, with rather hilarious consequences to him.

Finally, on the following Monday, Jenny arrived.

Jenny was a pitch black 1998 furby with green eyes. Proving the creepy pastas wrong about this type of furby, Jenny was just as friendly and playful as the others, and she had a good appetite. Like Polly, Jenny got along very well with Misty Amanda, the white furby, and they both loved playing hide-and-seek with Jessica, and cats VS. dog with Holly.

But Holly decided the day after Jenny's arrival that she wanted to be a "crazy monkey" and nearly got into trouble with Jessica for trying to climb the Christmas tree. Jessica's initial yell frightened Holly, who ran and hid behind a chair, but Jessica cornered her, then picked her up to gently explain why the Christmas tree needed to be left alone, however nice it looked.

The next furby to arrive, came during summer. He was an interesting specimen known as a furbacca, a furby boom with characteristics of Chewbacca, the lovable furry Star Wars character. Jessica simply named him Chewie, after this character.

He was plushy with long soft fur the color of Chewbacca's, and war a bandoleer. But he was the same size as Holly.

Chewie was fluent in wookiee vocalizations, and he could hum out tunes. But he couldn't speak English or furbish, so communication with Jessica was almost out of the question beyond visual cues and tone of voice.

Communication among Chewie and the other furbies was no trouble, because he sent them messages via high pitched frequencies, a system furbies used especially when they didn't want humans picking up on what was being said. It was also an avenue used to coordinate group actions in near silence. So all other furbies could relay Chewie's messages to Jessica.

In the dead of winter, Jethro, a blue Furby Connect arrived, and he could hardly contain his excitement about it. He made Jessica laugh when the first thing he said was "I dreamed about you!"
