Originally posted here, only I took the f-bomb out of the url and replaced it with "flaring". Edited for language. During my editing for language, I'll be making comments throughout. This is going to be one mondo long page! The comments are from people like me who detest JTK, and from his silly fandom who throw hissy fits over their *cough* hero *cough* being disliked.

I cannot stand this creepy pasta, nor can I understand the people who praise the crap out of it and act like it is the best creepy pasta ever or some crap.
Typically I ignore (In my opinion) horrible creepypasta, but I feel this is suitable for DA because of the hoard of kids on this site who think jeff the killer is ugguu or some other crap.
I especially felt it needed to be said due to the fact that people draw Jeff, slender man, and pyramid head together having some stupid adventure crap and it just. Why the flare. Just why.

His picture made me scared. His story made me laugh till tears came out my eyes. I honestly expected his story to be creepy, not hilariously bad.
In my opinion he has the potential to be an extremely creepy character, but his story would need to be completely rewritten, and none of his stories (that I have read,) have accomplished that.

Eh, the picture itself is rather cliche. The only creepy pasta picture that has ever scared me a little is smile dog, mostly because it was another version of it and it was placed on a site where I really wasn't expecting to find it. And at that time, I wasn't sure what the flare the thing was. xD

You may not know this, but the so-called picture of Jeff is actually A photoshopped pic of a 19-year old girl who had killed herself due to bullying, and some bastard edited it up to look like some sort of dumb serial killer boy. The fact that it dishonors a real-world suicide victim like that makes it even worse.
Ocean Elf: Not true. That whole stupid story is a 4chan-originated hoax. There was never any Katy robinson bullied into suicide, no records or reports of that or of anything else, other than what crops up on silly cp and chan sites. She never existed. The Jeff pic is a mask.
Except for a small argument near the end of this, I'm going to cut out all further references to this tasteless story since it is thankfully untrue. The result of the argument proves it, and the information has been included on the JTK origin page.
4chan naturally made it up because they wish they had bullied someone to suicide, and they thrive on getting a rise out of people. So they make up stupid memes and tasteless hoaxes, including hoaxes about themselves. They're trolls, so that's what they do. The more people talk about it and believe in it, the better they like it.

Goodness, I'm happy to have found a stamp like this! I completely agree. I mean, I like the picture, I thought the picture was creepy at first until I realized how much fun you could make out of it. He kinda looks like a bad Michael Jackson cosplayer. But the pasta itself is... It's way out there, it's over the top, the bullies were really stupid and poorly written, GAAAH I could seriously just sit here and pick at things I didn't like about it but I don't want to look like a wench.
I will tell you though, when I was first interested I went searching for the pasta and when I read it I remember actually thinking to myself "No, no... this can't be the original. This must be a fanfiction." I had to run into Let's Read after Let's Read in order to finally realize that it wasn't only a bad story but a glorified one.

Not only that, but the story's poorly written. It's cliche as heck.
The fact that the fangirls glorify both him and the act of murdering as if they're "cute" or... dare I say it... "kawaii" is just so exhaustingly annoying. Same goes for Slenderman and how the majority of his fangirls promote rape and murder as being, well, "cute."
I know that it's not all of the fans who do this, but it's definitely the majority. Heck, I myself, love the Slenderman mythos. I find it really interesting. But Slenderman is a fictional entity. No. He does not want to have your babies.

That, along with the catchy phrase "Go to sleep" gives it the popularity it has today

I'm not the only one who feels like that!:P Personally, I think this creepypasta takes place in the same universe as the Simpsons, considering the incompetence of everybody over the age of 13.
Not only are the police (and the jurisdiction) utterly incompetent, no, every single adult in this story is a complete idiot, especially Jeff's parents:
- The police want to imprison your son? No problem!
- You go to a child's birthday party? Dress up formally and be shocked if your son doesn't, as well! (Seriously, this was the only part that was at least a bit creepy. Of course, it wasn't explored, at all.)
- You notice that your son and some other children get into a dangerous fight? Don't intervene, just wait until somebody dies!
On that note, how did those 12- or 13-year-old children get their weapons? By wearing a fake moustache and a trench coat? And I don't even want to know how they got their super-strength.
Those children appear to be the logical conclusion of SERIOUS BUSINESS per reductio ad absurdum.
The picture used to be kind of scary to me but the creepypasta practically ruined that.
Ocean Elf: The most notorious JTK pasta is exactly that, very anti-adult, and it has portraying adults as total idiots in common with a lot of other stupid chain letters, especially glurges. Where it differs from glurge is that the kids are written as directly evil. Glurges often write kids as outsmarting adults and teaching everybody, including the readers some kind of lesson about attitude or life. The kids in JTK 2001 don't even have that going for them.

I understand the whole "to each their own" kind of thing, but I'd understand it a LOT better if there was some sort of sensible reasoning behind it? The creepypasta itself isn't written very well, and it's obvious that the author has no clear idea of what it's really like to be a damned BURN VICTIM. It wouldn't have killed them to do a bit more research on the subject.
And while I understand being upset at seeing hate over something that you like, the fangirls of Jeff the Killer take it WAY too far. Not everyone is going to like the same crap you do. Sure it sucks, but that's all there is to it. If you don't want to see it, then either don't look it up or move to tumblr. At least there you can blacklist the things you don't want to see.

I think its a wonderful story. I myself feeling personally connected to Jeff in a way since I too was nearly killed by bullies. overall I don't find he's story creepy, just depressing. I love Jeff but that's my opinion.

The story was definitely horrible. I mean how old was Jeff when that story happened? 12? And then boys his age carrying knives and guns? I don't buy it. And nothing really "traumatizing" happened to him that would make him snap. Ticci Toby lost his sister in a car accident and was ridiculed because of his constant ticking. Isaac from "The Origin of Laughing Jack" was born into a poor family with a drunk, abusive father and a strict mother and was later sent off to boarding school. What happened to Jeff? Nothing much. He was just a normal boy with a normal family and a normal life.
The character itself does have potential though. Stories like "Jeff the Killer vs. Jane the Killer" and "The Visit" really show some character in Jeff and stories like that makes Jeff one of my favorite creepypasta characters. If the original Jeff the Killer creepypasta was the only story out there about him I would definitely not even pay attention to his popularity.
Just putting my two cents here.

1. Convoluted soul-stealing plot.
2. sex and fighting plot. Jeff and Jane make out. Then they try to kill each other. Both of them ending up some kind of undead, with Jane supposedly ending up dying preggers with Jeff's kid, and Jeff ending up on a slab with gory looking injuries, yet he's able to fix his eyes on the doctor or mortician, whoever's looking at him. sure.
As for The Visit. What soppy crap. Jeff suddenly gets this urge to visit some grave supposedly of his brother, Liu, who he didn't actually kill, it was an attempt. So he goes to this grave and sheds crocodile tears about feeling lonely, oh poor baby, and how he brings flowers to his mom's grave, the mom he literally eviscerated along with his father, in the 2011 story. Someone capable of that is not human enough to afford sympathetic character traits and sure as heck doesn't get my sympathy. That some fangirls actually cry over this crap is just revolting.

Maybe there are places out there where preteens carry knives and whatnot but the story just makes the whole concept unrealistic. I mean, pulling out a gun in the middle of a birthday party where apparently the adults don't even think about breaking up the fight let alone call the police? Yeah, still not buying it.

Did you see what happened when they didn't intervene? Three kids died, one got permanently disfigured, and a house caught on fire. Yup they did a splendid job in protecting kids. Besides, there's bound to be someone who at least has the decency to call the police even when there's someone in danger. I think someone can usher kids to safety and call the police at the same time but they couldn't even do that. Then again they were just oblivious to everything around them. Check the rest of the comments, there's several who think the same thing.
Please, I've seen the world around us more than you probably could think of. I'm just glad I didn't grow up in a place like that and saw that side of the world when I was a kid. Who knows what would've happened to me if I did.
Ocean Elf: Considering what complete lackwits the adults were in the 2011 story, and Jeff's propensity for torturing and killing people's parents, I get the feeling Jeff stands for rebellion, even hatred toward parents, as well as just being plain evil for giggles and kicks.

Better in comparison to which character seems "creepier"..? Maybe, even cause Slenderman himself has a more properly elaborated background story, not to mention he wasn't simply created in a single night. He had AND HAS used to be a Folk Legend, whose first related rumors surged in Europe, i'm afraid. About a creature who hunted children in the woods if they defied their parents' orders.. It seems pretty much like a Boogeyman story they used to tell kids when putting them in bed, for starters. But folklore is rarely something you'd find nowadays with all this 'freedom of speech'.. :p
Not saying that i don't respect freedom of speech, i do. Very much, but can't deny the fact that folks have their own values and their own purity, in their own ways. :)
Btw, all this mainstream crap seems logic to me: many girls, specially fan girls, are in puberty. And some people make jokes about them, which flourishes throughout the Web, which doesn't help at all. They make drawings of chibi versions or either sexy ones, portraying them as "non-scary" and even "fun", and if one doesn't have a strong-thinking mind enough to face these things and make sure to maintain their own opinion towards this, being that others' opinions should also be respected, still holding true of your right for criticism, then they will get influenced, and "given hope" that their idol should be recognized more and more as how it's shown to them. Inducing their hormones, i'm afraid. :p
Btw, same for Jeff. I can't really say that the creepypasta is wholly horrible, even cause i remember i saw another version of this back then, and it creeped me out honestly, of course although i disregarded the fact that his image was nothing but a poorly made Photoshop crap. :p
Still, they're in puberty, it's pretty common. I honestly don't see it as something "extremely annoying", but if it's used in an excessive way.. Then it can go too far. I guess people don't understand it though. Puberty is okay, as long as you know how to handle it, and the real concept of Folk tales can STILL be intact, as long as we preserve it ourselves.

I like the way fans portray his looks way better,especially :iconxmadame-macabrex:'s,so i just try to pretend that he is like that,i mean in every pictures its Jeff,it doesn't have to be just the original one,i'm too much in my imagination.

As for Slenderman,before he became Creepypasta he was somewhat like Babaroga from Serbian folklore,how the parents tell disobedient children that he will come over there and eat them :P it's kinda funny XD

But it probably became more improved along the way, by the time people lived and the events that occurred back then. Remember: horror doesn't always have to be a mere creation. It can also reflect the trauma and impact that certain events, like difficulties that people have been through, massacres, opression, the "fear" that people caught a glimpse on at that time, caused on them. I'm not saying that "he isn't real", nor that "he is", either. It's obvious to choose to rather say "it's not". But maybe the horror wasn't necessarily real in a "Slender"-shaped form of life/event, but maybe the horror was given by something else.. And people who felt that horror reflected their fear by creating folk legends and surreal pictures of a "man that once lived in the woods and murdered kids", which honestly, in my opinion, seems like evidence to something even more realistic and dangerous, than simply a "monster who lived in the woods and snatched children away".. Maybe there was a murderer on the loose in that time, maybe the kids' parents got worried about their kids' lives and created rumors as a way to educate them, and protect their kids by preventing them from going outside and getting lost in the woods, even knowing there was a murderer around..

Well, you said you don't mind if artists decide to change Jeff's new look, isn't it? You're right, not every piece of artwork towards Jeff "should" be exactly similar to the original Jeff. This may also serve to any other theme. Try considering the other artists' artistic style as well. Otherwise, what would it be of creativity if we "always denied whatever goes against the standard, original way"?

I could barely get through it because of the grammar alone. Literally changing tenses in the same paragraph. And I thought I would like it, because it had so much potential. But it fell horribly horribly flat.

I agree with this stamp. I remember I used to be scared of him (the picture anyway) before I read his story, but I started to get curious about it and had read it. And I remember I had been extremely disappointed. I was expecting a more dramatic and scary story than just.... whatever the heck I had read. It didn't seem too much like a CreepyPasta story at all.Plus, it constantly kept switching back and forth between past-tense and present-tense, which had annoyed the hell outta me. And I hated how I had believed what the fangirls were saying and stuff because they kept on praising the story and the character, and so I had thought that it must be a good story if people liked it so much. Man, was it a disappointment...
And his fangirls (the obnoxious ones, anyway) are so annoying. I've never talked to them before, but I've seen a lot of comments from some of them on YouTube, the CreepyPasta website and wiki, and on deviantART. They act like he's their boyfriend and they wanna have sex with him and stuff. And of course they throw you to the wolves if you tell them that you don't like him. -.-; But they are not all like that. I know a few of them here that actually seem like really nice people. And some of them say that the obnoxious hyper fangirls make most of them (not just Jeff fans, but CP fans in general) look bad.

Ocean Elf: The original story doesn't give any hint that he is interested in sexual activity. Not even the notorious 2011 story does that. But other stories written later, definitely do. And given how gory his crimes are as well, and how he loves to have power over people, I can definitely see him as a rapist.
In a sequel story, where Jeff kills a girl and then a detective, he writes a taunting letter to the public, where he signs off as "Jeffree The Killer" and then adds this:
"P.S. Whomever is the one that’s a junior at Kettle Moraine… You’re cute. I’ll take my time with you... If you know what I mean ;)"
That's a rapist.
And then there's the Camille story, where he stabbed his cousin and then wanted to make out with her.
In one of the Jeff VS. Jane stories, he and Jane get it on, too.
And any story about Jeff's violence and sadistic attitude, let's just say I hold it all against him. And I don't fix his age as permanently 13.
But all of those are fan-made stories anyway, and it is good to know that the actual creator of Jeff doesn't like all that sexual stuff being thrown in there.

i'm a fan but not that big of a fan to write freakin jeff x reader, i do read them and ask my imaginary friends; why the flare, would jeff not kill this girl, just because she's pretty? wasn't jane pretty? like WTF?! i see jeff as a killer, but NOT a raper. i mean, just like, WTF?! the story was ok for me. i mean, i did ask myself what in the name of zalgo were the parents doing when randy and his gang had guns. but maybe randys father goes deer hunting and randy borrowed(or stealed) the guns and used them to get back at Jeff. though remember; the person who wrote this i think was in 2008. i like jeff the killer, but i'm not in a crazy obsession with him. to be honest, the only yaoi pair i can find in creepypasta is masky x hoodie, which i like that pair. though, i wouldn't say he's a horrible creepypasta.

Jeff has nothing going for him but his design and his catch phrase, neither of which is better than.... okay. There's no character arc, no motivation, no sense of style.... he went through some crap, got burnt/bleached, and now he kills people wantonly.
Even if you rewrote the origin story, fixed some plotholes, stuck with one tense, and refined the whole thing, it would still fall flat because Jeff simply isn't a character. They TRIED to foreshadow his bloodlust, but his sudden collapse into murderous insanity comes completely out of nowhere, and really doesn't amount to anything more than "kid who stabs people."
He might be able to work if they just didn't give him an origin at all, and he was a bizarre, deformed, enigmatic figure in the dark, who may or may not be supernatural.... but even then, he'd need quite a bit of work to be anything but Slenderman Lite. And to, you know, not be a kid.
But really, the characters from the original story I want to see more of are Randy and his thugs. The superhumanly strong, mad-skilled, skateboarding, gun-toting, murderous 12-year-olds who speak in unison and wreak havoc.
They're like every single incarnation of "The Bully" archetype twisted together and supercharged!
Ocean Elf: Great ideas there, and I agree, you can't fix stupid, or Jeff. Randy and his gang could actually make good bully robot characters. The trick would be finding out how to short-circuit them. They could even be working under some sinister mastermind that gives them their programming and orders.

Who cares how long it took to make it. That has nothing to do with it being good. Jeff the Killer is highly overrated and unrealistic. Even if bleach is involved, your skin would not turn white after being burned. Burning off your eyelids would result in you going blind. Cutting your mouth would give you serious infections. And also, Jeff is like, 13! You have to be born a phsycopath to be a phsycopath. As the story states, Jeff was a normal kid before crap went down. He would not be able to fight as if he does it everyday. Why would he kill his family? Why did the mom tell the dad to get the shot gun? Because it's forced.

THANK YOU! I'll be honest, the image creeped me the hell out for a while, but the story is just poorly written. Jeff is a half-assed Joker ripoff who goes insane for... no reason, really. And honesty, he's a Hamgoddamned p***y compared to pretty much any "Creepypasta" (Never been a fan of the term) villain given how he's pretty much a scrawny little kid with a knife.
And seriously, the picture doesn't even creep me out that much anymore, it gives me a jump if I suddenly see it out of nowhere, but even then it's not scary. Jeff looks kinda like Tommy Wiseau if Marilyn Manson and Barney were his parents if you ask me.

Practically every aspect of Jeff's story is laughable. Putting aside just how badly written it is (because *****, I think I developed brain damage attempting to read it), there's just an incredible amount of problems with his story. Firstly, he doesn't have any reason to become some knife wielding maniac; I suppose you could argue that there's a suggestion that his parents are materialistic ("but this is how you go if you want to make an impression"), leaning towards being unloving/uncaring/whatever, however this isn't built upon or even clearly presented to the reader within the main story. Many other pastas such as Ticci-Toby do this quite well, but in the case of Jeff we have to accept that he enjoys murder because…I don't know, #YOLO or some crap. Secondly, what kind of flaring neighbourhood did they move into? The flaring bullies are 13 years old and threaten with knives and guns? I know what the 'real world' is like, clearly there are places like that, but Jeff's family don't seem like the type to live in such an area (see earlier quote). The bullies appear really unusual in this environment, and if they weren't then why would Jeff's family move there? Thirdly, I'm no expert, but I'm sure that a policeman doesn't have the power to send somebody to the JDC for a year. No, there would have to be a trial, it doesn't matter if Liu confessed it would have to be done in a court of law, in front of a judge. Yet that doesn't change the fact that confessing would be absolutely stupid. Why didn't they just say it was self-defence? Their side of the story has to be taken into consideration - no matter how much evidence is compiled against them.
There's loads of other points I could make. And that's just regarding the story. Jeff's character is in itself, nothing more than the Joker awkwardly spliced with a generic emo kid - which is probably why he gained so much attention in the first place.
But recent spinoff stories such as "The Visit" have started to add depth to the character. He's becoming more interesting as fans add to him and his story.
Still doesn't explain why he isn't a blackened, shrivelled up, wheezing half-dead BALD crispy-eyed vegetable.
I don't hate Jeff. But flare, the original Jeff the Killer story is flaring stupid.

Honestly, this creepypasta was never scary. The only thing that shocked me a bit was just the picture but in the end, he's overrated. If you want some really terrifying creepypastas "Where Bad Kids Go", "Bedtime" and "1999" are pretty fearful imo.

Well, in my opinion, Jeff The Killer leaves a bad taste in my mouth because
-Lots of grammar and spelling errors
-Unrealistic events in the narrative and plotholes(How can a bunch of kids get guns? Why would Jeff's brother go immediately to jail without trial? How can Jeff be a good serial killer if he has a pale white face, bright red lips, and no eyelids, which not only makes him incredibly easy to notice, but his lack of eyelids would completely hinder his abilities to preform slaughter)
-it seems that while the picture is scary, the story itself is not very engaging or impressive
-the fans make Jeff The Killer out to be something way more huge than it actually is (Jeff's a normal kid, he can't survive battles with interdimensional monsters like Slender Man or flaring Smile Dog or whoever he'd be thrown up against)

Ocean elf: When it comes down to it, creepypastas routinely take canon characters from various famous fiction and twist them all to heck. Squidword is just one example of that. So the canon laws/rules seem to be quite lax as far as that goes, but that doesn't excuse fans turning innocent well-known characters into sadistic or emotionally whackos on the one hand, and then trying to romanticize killers like Jeff/Slender/Eyeless Jack etc.
And there really isn't much of a canon where Jeff is concerned, because his actual creator is not well known, nor is his Jeff story. The fandom rejected him, because they'd rather drool over the anonymously-written notorious bullies/going insane story from 2011.

Clockwork: In my opinion, the biggest marysue/ripoff of Jeff The Killer. She's a killer who has green eyes, red hair (if I can remember), and a Flaring CLOCK IN HER EYE! It's all generic: She hated her parents, some stuff in school pi$$ed her off, she mutilated herself all over not turning in a school assignment, and her boyfriend breaking up with her. THAT'S A LEGIT REASON FOR HER TO CARVE A SMILE IN TO HER FACE (Yes, a smile, I never heard that before)! So, she's taken to a hospital, and the doctors use brutal force (which I would say is necessary for a girl like her, but I don't know) on her, and later, she kills a doctor and..... you're not going to believe how.......... skinning him, and tying him on the wall above the bed. Yes, a young girl, DID THAT to an adult. LOGIC!!!!!!!!!
So, she escapes, kills her mother (who we don't care at all, since we show no reason to care, she's just another person to be added to Natalie's body count), and then kills her father (who we're suppose to hate because in the beginning, it's played out that he once hit his daughter with a book, all because they drew all over the wall. That's it, wall drawing. Hamgod, even rap music gives us more reasons why they hate their father), and then she's attacked by her brother, WHO WASN'T EVEN MENTIONED AT ALL! He just came out of no way, and they mentioned that he raped her a long time ago. Raped.....her............. Then she kills him, something with "Macaroni Art", takes her eye out, puts a clock in, sets her house on fire, and... oh! So she's an urban legend? She comes to your bed at night, and all you can see his her clock glowing in the dark? Oh yeah, I'll believe that, once there is video of Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen DeGeneres making out (No offense).
So that's ClOCKwork in a buttshell.

And if you still don't believe me: Google Katy Robinson, the girl who supposedly killed herself and the picture is allegedly based off of. Yeah, the logic in that one is screwed up totally.
For starters, they say Jeff became like that because he got his face burned badly, turning it white and leathery. WHAT?!
I've seen burn victims before, and they do not end up like that! It's a lot more gruesome.
And if Jeff had burnt his eyelids out, how did he do it without damaging his eyes?
Second thing if Jeff had SOMEHOW managed to burn out his eyelids, dust and hair would get into his eyes causing him to go blind almost instantly.
And if he had sliced the side of his mouth open, it would cause it to get infected which would kill him if he never got proper medical treatment.

I couldn't agree more. Another thing that grinds my gears is when people call Mothman a creepypasta. If I'm not mistaken, creepypasta is used for original stories made to seem like urban legends. Using an all ready existing urban legend is not plagerism, but it is not your original work. Whether you believe in it or not, cryptids have some form of fact behind them. Creepypastas don't.

100% agree. I really don't understand why his story is so overrated and many are so fanatic about it. It's not even well written. So many moments that are totally illogical and impossible, first of all, from the medical point of view. And there are much, much scarier stories around that are worth attention.
Yes, and all these drawings of Jeff, Slender Man, Pyramid Head, etc. together just freaks me out. I don't even know what can be more stupid than that. So yes, I absolutely agree, Jeff the Killer is one of the crappiest creepypastas.

I think it's just the freaky picture and the catchphrase he has going for himself. Slenderman may be overhyped too, but at least the creator didn't try to explain why he looks the way he does. The mystery is what makes him somewhat enjoyable. Same thing with the Pyramid Head, you don't have to know where he comes from. You don't need to know his bullcrap tragic past, you don't need some idiotic reason for him to have the pyramid on his head. He's just there and it's terrifying.
"Mister Slenderman was a businessman, that's why he wears suits. One day, he was walking home from his job and he passed by a construction site. Suddenly, one of the beams from a crane flies loose and hits him in the head, knocking face clean off! And then, an octopus leaps from the sewer and sodomizes him in the middle of the street while he's bleeding all over. Then the tentacles grew out of his back! Because of his ghastly appearance, he ran from the world and went to hide in the woods, where he leaves notes everywhere, telling all outsiders to flee or else."
While that's all ridiculous in itself, it'll never be as ridiculous as Jeff The Killer's backstory. Where his hair is black because it was LIT ON FIRE. Honestly, when I read it, I thought it was a trollfic.

But seriously, I agree with you completely. The kid got bullied once, and the outcome is totally uncalled for, there are many out there who get bullied every damn day, but once will drive this creep into flaring his face up, and killing not just bullies, but innocents as well. Then again, I hate most creepypastas in the first place, they are all so damn similar, nothing but murder and gore just for the sake of having it. it IS possible to write a story without murder throughout the whole thing, or being the main focus.
People just refuse to take time with their stories anymore, any they make them sooo damn unrealistic. Slenderman i understand, he's NOT human, but one would think that someone could roundhouse kick that Jeff in the face, and he'd go down, but with how the story is played out, he'd no doubt just brush it off as if it was just a poke or something.
Ocean elf: Slender Man is way over-powered too, and needing a good take-down. Since no one else seems willing, that's where I come in.

Yeah. It's one of the crappiest creepypastas I ever read, reads like it was written by a 12-year-old.
This crap is completely and utterly overrated, yet somehow everyone seems to think it's great.
It's nothing compared to some pretty good creepypasta out there ("The thing that stalks the field" or "Bedtime", for instance. Especially the latter is pretty damn flaring terrifying)
Ocean Elf: Not to me. But there is a strange parallel between the hype over Jeff, and how so many people of all ages go nuts over a different genre of meme/chain letter, the glurge. Many glurges are written so sappily, with elementary life lessons that are suitable for kindergarten, yet even people my age go all melty over them and just gotta share! Argh! So annoying! Anyone could personally preach to them, and they would feel patronized. But they just eat up anything in the form of a meme.
