Memes can ruin anything from true stories to fictional stories whose authors have been verified. This is why it's such a bad idea for anything to end up in a meme.
A bit of subtly coercive meme dreck which I will mangle, was tacked on to a fictional inspirational story about a woman called Edith Burns.
The story was written by Russell Kelfer, clearly as inspirational fiction, so this Edith Burns was never a real person, and even this site acknowledges that memes are annoying.
Three reasons somebody or some people got the bright idea to turn it into a 🤥Meme:
1. It was about a Christian woman.
2. She died of cancer.
3. She had a very strong faith.
But as if that wasn't already enough of a get-you-in-the-heart trifecta, somewhere along the way, this chain letter gunk was added, and is about to be mangled.
🤥Meme: If you believe in Easter, forward this on.
🧝♀️Ocean Elf: No. The only thing that would prove is that I re-shared something. I could write my own email and put "I believe in Easter" as my sigline and that would get the message across a lot better; and I don't even like siglines much at the end of emails and posts unless they contain a link or two.
But why should I? Why is it so important that everyone know if I believe in Easter?
Other Christians would naturally be delighted about this, but take my word for it, anyone who does not share my beliefs would only get annoyed if I gave into the coercion of this meme and passed it on.
🤥Meme: God works in wonderful ways,
🧝♀️Ocean Elf: Yes, but none of these ways include meme spam.
🤥Meme: and to believe in His power is to truly be free.
🧝♀️Ocean Elf: Free to think for yourself, and know not to knuckle under and send memes out of a falsely induced sense of obligation.
🤥Meme: If Jesus had e-mail, He'd do the same for you.
🧝♀️Ocean Elf: Uh, NO! If Jesus was here in the flesh, he would not originate and spread chain letters. He would write his own messages, and quote scriptures to back up his own opinion. He would also warn people to beware of hoaxers who claim to be doing things in his name.
🤥Meme: HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
🧝♀️Ocean Elf: Save it!
Over and out!
