Well, if you're going to make so much of a rubber band, I might as well point out that flexibility isn't always necessarily good. and, stretch a rubber band too much, what happens? it snaps.

🧝♀️Ocean Elf: *Rolling eyes* I figured that was coming. Well sometimes people are their own worst enemy, and whatever hurt feelings they are experiencing might actually be something they brought on themselves; either by refusing to accept the fact that the world doesn't have it out for them and insist on turning every little stupid thing into a "Woe is me, nobody likes me!" drama, or they are trouble-makers who go around tromping over other people and playing the victim act when someone just finally stood up to them. I'm not here to indiscriminately soothe everybody's emotional owies. Don't get me wrong. When I am genuinely moved to comfort someone, right or wrong, I tend to act on those feelings. But sometimes it has turned out badly where I was mightily sorry for giving that someone the time of day later. other times it has just been futile because some people are just insistent on being unhappy. I can't go on trying to fix them or there'll be nothing left of me.
