Disney Fandom Rages Over Which Movie Is Best

👤 This Disney/Pixar movie bracket is starting so many internet fights

🧝‍♀️ Oh For Goodness Sakes!

By Ocean Elf.

👤MORGAN SUNG: There are only four days left until April, but we can still appreciate March Madness with the small amount of time left. Unless it's a toss up between Disney and Pixar movies.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: Who knows how long this madness will last. Trolls and fandoms are belligerent brats, often over nothing.

👤MORGAN SUNG: This Disney-Pixar bracket is tearing the internet apart — Twitter user @smjxmj's take put Monsters, Inc. above all other Disney-Pixar movies and people were pretty mad.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: *Sigh* Will people just never stop being stupid?

👤MORGAN SUNG: Mashable: SEE ALSO: 'We need a Disney princess' meme quickly derails from genuine to bizarre

🧝‍♀️Ocean: Thank you for that, Mashable. Meme mangling/reaction to that article coming right up.

👤MORGAN SUNG: Because, really, WHO would choose Tangled over Lion King? Tangled is a wonderful movie but the Lion King is a classic. It's the peak of Disney's renaissance.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: Renaissance? Oh, please. Don't get so melodramatic. It's a movie company, not an era. Its content has gone way downhill over the years. Like any other movie company, it put out good and bad, until it went woke. Then it became all bad.

So, movies... Well... Was never interested in The Lion King, have zilch interest in Tangled, weird meaningless title, jury's out on Monsters Inc. meaning if it happens to be on TV when I have nothing else to do and am bored and mildly curious, I might give it a watch.

But who cares? People, it's called personal preference. Ever heard of it?

Interestingly enough, my favourite Disney movie wasn't without controversy, but at least there was good reason for it. The author of the story that inspired the movie, really did not like what the movie did to the story.

👤MORGAN SUNG: Other people defended his choices. When's the last time you saw The Little Mermaid or Hercules? Does it hold up? Is it as good now as it was when you were nine?

🧝‍♀️Ocean: Gah. it's like the otaku mindset has taken over Disney fans now. But, that's how it goes with fandoms. It's why I don't belong to any.

I will say this for the Little Mermaid, much as I dislike the name Ariel for her, the music is great.

Please keep in mind this all happened before Wokeney ate up Disney.

👤MORGAN SUNG: The original bracket from @yeeitsanthonyy went viral last week, and it's been on the most divisive topics on social media since pineapple on pizza.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: Pineapple...on...pizza...going...viral...? Why, world? Just why? Are people really this bored and lacking in imagination that they resort to this? Making a chain letter out of a pizza topping. Now a big hissy competition over movies. Oh, for goodness sakes...!

👤MORGAN SUNG: What's with this seeding? Where is An Extremely Goofy Movie, the coming of age movie that examined the bond between a parent and child? Where is Atlantis, arguably one of the most beautifully animated movies of the 2000s?

🧝‍♀️Ocean: I haven't kept up on every single movie Disney/Pixar has churned out, but instead of arguing over which is better or which gets mentioned, how about just watching the dang movies instead?

👤MORGAN SUNG: Some Twitter users, like @MrDanielBennett and @laundriis disregarded the whole bracket and added their own winners. The Emperor's New Groove and Treasure Planet were completely ignored in the original bracket, so they came to these conclusions:

🧝‍♀️Ocean: You keep calling it a bracket, it's a fandom among probably zillions of fandoms, within the Disney fanbase.

👤MORGAN SUNG: Others completely ignored the Disney-Pixar toss up and decided that a certain Dreamworks movie trumped all.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: It would be great if the rest of the internet just responded by serving these sniping fangirl/boys a nice steaming bowl of STHU.

👤MORGAN SUNG: Actually, multiple people thought Shrek was the best animated movie of this era.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: Okay, how to put this?

"NOBODY CARES!"

👤MORGAN SUNG: Some, like @Jander513 and @DavidBrooks97 created more complicated brackets that included movies forgotten in @yeeitsanthonyy's.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: *Pfft* Apparently Twitter has become synonymous with "no life".

👤MORGAN SUNG: But people would really rather fight for their beloved childhood movies than have a reasonable discussion.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: You can blame the likes of 4chan for that. *cough* Bronies.

👤MORGAN SUNG: As long as Moana wins over Tangled, we're all good.

🧝‍♀️Ocean: How about everybody loses until they come to their senses, and only then are we all good.

Don't get me wrong. I'm definitely a fan of various things. I just don't go all stupid about them.

Oh, and BTW, this petty ultra-competitiveness from only those specific fandoms isn't tearing the whole internet apart, only a section of it on a social media platform I rarely ever use if it is limited to twitter. But fandoms do brag into all sorts of places to spew their obsessions and memes where they are not welcome, otaku and bronies being among the worst I've seen.

So now I have a question/theory. I'm speculating these particularly militant fans are probably otaku as well. The behavior fits. They take themselves and their movie choices way too seriously. Otaku and bronies have been engaging in that sort of thing for years.

A casual fan of the odd Disney classic (something Wokeney is destroying), with a level head, such as yours truly here, finds this behavior exceedingly infantile.

Unfortunately, things have gotten far worse since this article. The politicizing of the Disney franchise has killed it, and makes me wish that company would cease to exist at all.

I am not going to watch Tangled. Or Moana (Moan?a?) or *cough* Frozen* or *gag* Maleficent! What I read about that last one made me nauseous. It was already filled with feminized woke garbage.

Maleficent is an impostor anyway. The original villain from Sleeping Beauty was not a witch, but a fairy called Carabosse. And don't give me some silly Mary Sued up backstory about how she was some brave heroine before she turned to the dark side. I don't want it. I'm so sick of that trope.

Over and out.
