We have another idiot who went viral.
Samantha Bush, AKA AlphaF on Reddit, (WTH kind of handle is that?)
She was 22 years old at the time she played a bad prank on her mom.
It is understandable to give your parents a bit of a teasing when they are worrying just a little too much, but this went beyond good taste.
Did Samantha blow up her toothpaste tube so that it would look as though she hadn't brushed her teeth the whole time she was on vacation? Did she tell her mom she took rides with strangers, paying them for the rides, and add "They were cabs" immediately upon getting the first expression of a horrified reaction?
No.
This Reddit dweeb thought it would be a real knee-slapper to fake a picture of herself appearing as if she was clinging for dear life to the edge of the Grand Canyon.
Her feet were secure on solid ground, but the camera was angled so they would be out of site, and Samantha had this fake look of horror on her face.
The picture was posted to Reddit, where it went viral, and was voted up lots of times.
Well, that's Reddit for you. *Rolling eyes*
I pulled the cab and toothbrush thing on my parents when I went on vacation with friends and I was 21. I also had enough forethought and consideration not to do anything that would really scare the crap out of them, and any initial feelings of "OMG!" on their part would give way to "Oh, you brat!" within moments. My motives were exactly the same, I wanted to tell my parents to stop worrying, I could take care of myself.
And if I did have any pictures of me doing anything daring, like standing at a canyon or cliff ledge, I wouldn't be so immature as to plaster a fake expression of horror on my face and look as if I really was in trouble. I would be posing proudly, beaming at the camera, showing that I might've been daring, but doing just fine, and honest about it. and it would've at least brought the reassurance along with the "Stop worrying, see, I'm okay." message home much better than this fake job.
And my own little pranks were put into effect only after I had returned safely home. So my parents got the message and never bugged me about making sure to take care of myself and to avoid taking rides with strangers again. They weren't shocked nearly into heart attacks, and we all look back on these memories and laugh.
Time will tell if Samantha's over-the-top prank will be a fond family memory or one of stress.
