You might recall that ghastly racist hoax where Bethany Storro threw acid on herself, then blamed it on a non-existent black woman, then raked in a bunch of ill-gotten donations from that hoax.
During the last week of October 2012, another racist hoax of the same frightfully disturbing stripe was perpetuated. 20-year-old Sharmeka Moffitt wrote the 'n' word and 'kkk on her own car, set herself on fire, and blamed it on three non-existent men, supposedly klan members. The story went viral before it was discovered it was all a horrible hoax. One of the rumors even said Moffit was attacked for wearing an Obama t-shirt.
